Gordon nets 48 points as Bulls edge Bucks in OT

03.4.2007

Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Ben Gordon poured in a career-high 48 points and Chicago erased an 18-point, fourth quarter deficit to stun Milwaukee, 126-121, in overtime at the Bradley Center.

Gordon, whose 20 points in the final frame sparked the rally, finished 18- of-32 from the field and 6-of-12 from three-point range.

Luol Deng posted 27 points for the Bulls, who have won four straight. Kirk Hinrich added 23 points, while Ben Wallace pulled down 12 rebounds in the victory.

Michael Redd had a monster game, scoring 52 points on 18-of-32 shooting and 8- of-13 from beyond the arc for the Bucks, who had a three-game winning streak halted and lost for the 12th time in their last 16 games.

Ruben Patterson netted 17 points, Andrew Bogut had 13 with 11 boards and Mo Williams donated 14 points, dished out eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds in defeat.

Milwaukee appeared to have the game in hand when Williams drained a jumper for a 100-82 cushion with 9:26 to play, but Chicago stormed back with a 29-10 burst — highlighted by Gordon’s jumper with 11.6 seconds left — and took its first lead of the game, 111-110.

Patterson, who was fouled by Chris Duhon with 3.4 seconds remaining, hit 1- of-2 from the charity stripe to tie the contest. Duhon then took the inbounds pass, but his desperation trey from behind midcourt fell short of the rim.

The Bulls scored seven of the first eight points in the extra session and never looked back. Hinrich ended the surge with a triple and later added a pair of free throws with 11.2 seconds left to ice the game.

Chicago finished 53 percent shooting from the floor.

Milwaukee led by as many as seven in the first quarter, but Duhon’s layup cut Chicago’s deficit to 31-28. The Bucks stayed on top in the second and went into the break with a 54-52 edge.

Redd ruled the third, scoring 24 points to stake the Bucks to a 17-point advantage with just under one minute left. The Bulls, though, cut their deficit to 12, 90-78 when Hinrich hit a driving layup and drilled a three- pointer as time expired.

Game Notes

Duhon ended with five points and five helpers...Chicago had lost 15 of its last 17 at Milwaukee coming in...The Bucks shot 49 percent from the field.
