Heat host Bobcats in South Beach

02.5.2007

(Basketball News) - The defending world champion Miami Heat try to extend their winning streak to four games this evening when they welcome the Charlotte Bobcats to AmericanAirlines Arena.

A win tonight would match the Heat’s season-best winning streak. Dwyane Wade posted 32 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds, as the Heat downed the Milwaukee Bucks, 117-98, on Saturday at the Bradley Center. Wade, who went 11- of-17 from the field, has scored more than 20 points in 14 straight games.

Jason Kapono scored a career-high 28 points in the win over Milwaukee for the Heat, who won their third straight. Shaquille O’Neal netted 20, while Udonis Haslem grabbed 11 boards in the victory.

On the injury front for Miami, guard Jason Williams (lower abdominal strain/sore left foot) is doubtful for tonight’s contest.

The Heat are 12-10 at home this season. They have won three in a row as the host.

Charlotte plays the first of a short two-game road trip. Raymond Felton scored 22 points on 8-of-19 from the floor, as the Bobcats held off the Golden State Warriors, 98-90, at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

Gerald Wallace posted 21 points and 16 rebounds in the win over Golden State for the Bobcats, who have won two in a row and three of their last four games at home. Emeka Okafor finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Matt Carroll ended with 16 points.

The Bobcats are 8-15 on the road this season. They will visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday at the Wachovia Center.

This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 25th, Wade had 35 points and 12 assists to lead the Heat over Charlotte, 102-93, at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

Miami has won six straight and eight of the nine meetings in the series. The Heat have won three in a row at Charlotte.
