Alan Anderson posted a career-best 24 points and Derek Anderson 21 for the Bobcats, who won for the third time in four contests. They have one game remaining in the season, home against New York on Wednesday.
That will mark the final game for Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff. Michael Jordan, managing member of basketball operations, announced last month that Bickerstaff will not return as the team’s head coach next year.
As for Herrmann, he finished the night 12-of-15 from the field, including 6-of-8 from three-point range.
"He’s getting on a lot of people’s nerves," Bickerstaff said of Herrmann. "He’s aggressive; he doesn’t allow you to run your routes. When you keep people out of their sweet spots, it scrubs what you want to do and that’s what he does."
Charlotte had great distribution by tying a season-high with 39 assists, led by 11 from Jeff McInnis. The Bobcats shot 60 percent from the field.
"We weren’t holding the ball," Alan Anderson said. "We caught the ball, we moved it, we went to the basket and didn’t hesitate."
Maurice Williams had 16 points for Milwaukee, which had dropped 12 of its last 14 games. Dan Gadzuric added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Bucks, while Lynn Greer also scored 14.
"We’ve got a lot of work to do within the shell of our defense," Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak said. "There’s no game plan at all tonight to double-team the post, and yet we’ve got people running down there and double-teaming."
Ruben Patterson’s two free throws brought the Bucks within 67-62 with 5:18 remaining in the third quarter, but the Bobcats responded with an 11-1 spurt to pull away for good. Herrmann banged in a three-pointer during the spurt.
Charlotte’s lead stood at 86-70 going into the fourth and the Bobcats led by no less than nine the rest of the way. A three by Williams pulled Milwaukee within 88-79, but Herrmann’s three made it 93-79 with 9:27 left.
Raymond Felton scored 13 and had nine assists for the Bobcats, who also got 10 points from Emeka Okafor.
Earl Boykins had 13 points, while Charlie Bell and Patterson each had 10 for the Bucks, who committed 23 turnovers.
Milwaukee held a 28-27 edge after the opening quarter before the Bobcats went in front 54-51 at the break. Herrmann jammed and then added a layup in the final minute to give his team the lead.
Game Notes
