(Basketball News) - Houston will try to get back on the winning track tonight when they host the Atlanta Hawks. On Saturday,the Rockets fell to the Dallas Mavericks, 97-88, at American Airlines Center.
Jim Jackson scored a team-high 18 points and Cuttino Mobley added 16 for the Rockets, who lost for the second time in four games. Yao Ming contributed 14 points, while Clarence Weatherspoon registered 11 points and six boards for the Rockets
Houston got within 66-63 on a three-pointer by Jackson with under five minutes to go in the third. Dallas then pushed its advantage to 78-64 on a driving layup by Antoine Walker with 1:01 to go in the frame.
A layup by Weatherspoon less than two minutes into the fourth quarter cut Houston’s deficit to 80-71. Later in the fourth, Houston used a 13-2 run, which was capped by a Steve Francis dunk with 32 seconds left, to get within 94-88. However, the Rockets got no closer.
Houston has not allowed over 100 points in its last 28 games.
The Rockets are 18-8 at home this season.
Houston has won two of three and six of its last eight meetings with the Hawks, who have lost four straight and 10 of their last 11 as the visitor against the Rockets.
