(Basketball News) - Jermaine O’Neal scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Indiana over Philadelphia, 90-77, Friday at Conseco Fieldhouse in an Eastern Conference battle.
Ron Artest added 20 points, seven boards and eight assists for the Pacers, who won their eighth straight game. Al Harrington contributed 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven helpers off the bench, as Indiana has won 13 of its last 14 games and holds the best record in the Eastern Conference at 14-2.
The Pacers went on a 13-1 run in the first quarter and they never looked back. After the burst, Indiana led 21-9 en route to taking a 22-14 advantage into the second frame. The Sixers hurt themselves early, only shooting 23 percent from the floor in the opening 12 minutes.
In the second quarter, Indiana led by as many as 16. But the Sixers closed out the first half with four straight points to cut the deficit to 50-38 at the intermission.
The Pacers led by as many as 18 in the second half and Philadelphia never threatened.
Indiana turned the ball over 18 times, but outrebounded the Sixers 46-32 and held them to 41 percent shooting.
The Pacers start a five-game road trip on Sunday against Karl Malone and the Los Angeles Lakers.
