Once Marbury misses 41 consecutive games due to his season-ending ankle surgery, insurance will pay 80% of the rest of his salary.
In Marbury’s case, insurance will kick in for the team’s final six games.
Marbury earns approximately $180,000 per game, meaning the Knicks will save roughly $850,000, which is chump change to Dolan.
After Marbury had surgery, Isiah Thomas barred him from attending home games until two weeks ago, when Thomas began being criticized for the decision.
