Iverson, Boozer named NBA players of the week Biography Iverson captured the Eastern Conference honor after averaging a league-best 34.0 points on 49.3 percent shooting with 9.7 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game, as Philly opened its season at 3-0. Iverson has registered 30-plus points in six consecutive games dating back to last season, and has netted 30-plus in his last three season openers. That ties Michael Jordan’s streak from the 1995-96 through 1997-98 seasons. Boozer helped the Jazz to a 3-0 record after averaging 20.7 points on 50 percent shooting with a league-leading 15.0 rebounds to garner the Western Conference award. Boozer posted double-doubles in all three games, while also leading Utah in scoring (20.7). He led the Jazz back from a 15-point deficit in the second half against the Suns for the first Utah win in Phoenix since the 2003-04 season. Other nominees for the awards were Atlanta’s Joe Johnson, Detroit’s Richard Hamilton, Houston’s Yao Ming, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Lamar Odom, Milwaukee’s Charlie Villanueva, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, and New Orleans/Oklahoma City’s David West.
