Jason Williams Signs with Los Angeles Clippers

  By C.Y. Ellis
08.8.2008 - Updated on 08.8.2008

Word from out west is that erratic floor general Jason Williams has just inked a deal that will see him suit up for the new-look Los Angeles Clippers next season. Let’s go to the quotes.

Jason is an experienced and proven player. He is a terrific ball handler with great passing ability and court vision. - Elgin Baylor

We are excited to add Jason to our squad. He brings added veteran leadership and playoff experience to our backcourt.
- Mike Dunleavy

Traditionalists will question the value of this acquisition given that Baron Davis - a fellow point guard - also joined the Clips this summer. His time sharing the court with Monta Ellis, however, showed that he’s capable of sliding to the two for stretches.

So, is Dunleavy planning to go to the small-ball, run-and-gun style of play that brought Don Nelson mixed results in Oakland? Can Jason Williams and fellow Heat-to-Clippers transfer Ricky Davis rediscover their form in Los Angeles? Will the projected White Chocolate-Boom Dizzle backcourt be a productive pairing or the worst idea since the WNBA? Let us know what you think in the comment box below.

I like Baron butI love J Will and I actually wanted to see J Will play like he did back in Sacramento. I know people are gonna say his time has over but I think he still has a few tricks up his sleeves despite his age. But in order to do that FIRST he has to be given the opportunity. You got to give him the ball and let him create. In other words let him be a POINT GUARD like he was in Sacramento and Memphis not a give-the-ball-to-Wade-and-just-wait-at-the-3pt-line type of point guard.I was hoping he would turn up in Orlando since they have great players at every position except the PG spot. I can’t imagine the highlights Jason and Dwight would come up with. Not to mention he has played with Hedo before so there’s obviously chemistry there.I’m hope I don’t see a rerun of what happen in Miami where Jason just sit tight and Wade (now Baron) does all the work. .

Well I dunno, I think they would have been better off making a run at Ben Gordon or something like that. J.R Smith would be good with Boom, plus he already knows Marcus Camby soooo..... .
