Jazz continue solid play

12.26.2006

(Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz (20-8) are four games ahead of the second place Denver Nuggets in the Northwest Division. They look like they are ready to end their three-year drought of postseason play.

The Jazz are 10-3 when they surrender 100 or more points this season. They are 19-2 when they reach the century mark.

The surprising Jazz welcome the disappointing Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday to EnergySolutions Arena. It is the third meeting of the season between the clubs. The Jazz won the two previous contests, winning at home and at the Staples Center.

The Clippers have lost seven straight and 33 of their last 34 at Utah. The Jazz have won three of the last four contests in this series.

Los Angeles is scheduled to host the Jazz on March 23, 2007 at the Staples Center in the fourth and final contest of the campaign between the squads.

Utah will try and make it two wins in a row on Tuesday evening. Carlos Boozer poured in 24 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out five assists to lead the Jazz past the Memphis Grizzlies, 100-97, on Saturday at FedExForum.

Mehmet Okur posted 20 points and grabbed nine boards in the win over Memphis for the Jazz, while Deron Williams scored 17 points and dished out nine assists for Utah.

The Jazz are an impressive 11-2 at home this season. They will visit Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday at the AT&T Center. Utah defeated the Spurs, 83-75, on November 29th.

Utah has lost 14 straight after winning its last two at San Antonio. The last time the Jazz won in San Antonio was on February 28, 1999.

Okur is averaging 16.1 points and 7.8 rebounds this season. He has scored in double-digits in seven straight games and is averaging 20.0 points per game in that span.
