Jazz visit the City of Brotherly Love

03.16.2007

(Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz will try to get back on the winning track this evening when they resume a four-game road trip against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.

The Northwest Division-leading Jazz have dropped the first two games of the trek after ripping off six straight wins. On Wednesday the Jazz suffered a 101-90 loss to the Orlando Magic at Amway Arena, as Carlos Boozer paced his club with 29 points and seven boards.

Mehmet Okur finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds for Utah, which is 18-14 on the road this season and will close out the trip in Cleveland on Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena.

Utah is fourth overall in the Western Conference playoff race. In injury news for the Jazz, forward Andrei Kirilenko (ankle) is questionable for Friday’s game against Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, the Sixers have dropped two in a row after a season-high seven-game winning streak. They dropped an 88-87 decision to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday in the opener of a three-game homestand.

Andre Iguodala had 19 points, five rebounds and six assists for the Sixers, who lost for the first time in eight games at home. Willie Green finished with 16 points, while Samuel Dalembert tallied 15 points and seven boards in the loss.

After hosting the Jazz, Philadelphia will wrap up the homestand on Sunday against the Houston Rockets. The Sixers are 16-16 at the Wachovia Center this season and 5 1/2 games off the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.

Friday’s game between Utah and Philly is the second and final meeting of the regular season. The Jazz won the first matchup, 98-87, on January 3 at EnergySolutions Arena. Boozer had 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead Utah, which has won three straight, six of seven and nine of the last 11 meetings.

The Jazz have also won three straight and five of their last six trips to the City of Brotherly Love.
