Joe Maloof to Ron Artest: Keep Your Cool

07.16.2008 - Updated on 07.16.2008

Having already shared his regret over not opting out of his contract last month after learning he wasn’t in the Kings’ long-term plans, Artest expressed a desire to be traded and claimed he was "blinded by friendship" with the Maloof family that owns the Kings.

A day later, Kings co-owner Joe Maloof had a message for his conflicted player.

"He has to balance the way he acts," Joe Maloof said by phone. "He’s got to control his emotions a little better. You’ve got to try and keep your cool a little bit.

"Take a deep breath and quit flying off the handle with comments that don’t make sense. I hate to say it that way, but that’s how I feel. It doesn’t make sense to me."

what’s with these over paid morons! artest, manny with the red sox, didn’t they get the memo about don’t bite the hand that feeds you, this is what happens when you get guaranteed contracts, they wouldn’t be talking crap with they could be cut and the contract nulled like the nfl. these morons think cause they make a few million a year that gives them a right to blast the owners and the check writers. i say bench both of them and make them get water for the rest of the team, even for the ball boys and girls. they forget the owners have so much money they could blow their noses’ and wipe their tushes with what they pay these divas. .
