It is the first such honor for Howard, a four-year veteran. Howard averaged a team-high 22.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks as Dallas went 3-0 for the week. In his past seven games, Howard is a perfect 30- for-30 from the charity stripe.

He notched his first career triple-double, with 19 points, a career-high 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, in Wednesday’s 121-95 win over Miami. Other nominees for NBA players of the week were Cleveland’s LeBron James, Golden State’s Baron Davis, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, New York’s Jamal Crawford and David Lee, Phoenix’s Steve Nash, and Washington’s Gilbert Arenas.
