(Basketball News) - The Minnesota Timberwolves try to win their third straight game when they host the disappointing Sacramento Kings tonight at the Target Center.

Minnesota comes into tonight’s contest off a big victory. Kevin Garnett scored a season-high 44 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Timberwolves ended the Phoenix Suns winning streak at 17 games with a 121-112 victory on Monday at the Target Center.

Ricky Davis added 17 points and eight assists and Marko Jaric scored 11 points for the Timberwolves, who have won two straight and improved to 2-2 under new head coach Randy Wittman.

The Timberwolves are 13-8 at home this season. After tonight’s game, they embark on a three-game road trip. Minnesota will visit the Hornets, Dallas and Houston on the upcoming swing.

Sacramento has dropped three in a row and wraps up a four-game road trip. Pau Gasol poured in 34 points and tied a franchise record with eight blocks, as the Memphis Grizzlies rallied from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Kings, 124-117, on Monday at FedExForum.

Mike Bibby finished with 23 points, while Kevin Martin netted 22 in the loss to the Grizzlies for Sacramento, which has dropped 11 of its last 14 games overall. Ron Artest scored 21 points in defeat.

The Kings, who have lost four in a row on the road, are 5-15 as the visitor this season. After tonight’s contest, Sacramento will return home to host Denver, the Hornets and Chicago.

This is the third meeting of the campaign between the teams. Both clubs picked up a home victory in the two previous contests. The Kings will host the Timberwolves on March 21st in the final meeting of the season between the teams.
