(Basketball News) - The Los Angeles Clippers were defeated, 103-95, Tuesday by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers at Gund Arena.
Predrag Drobnjak had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Clippers, who had their four-game winning streak halted. Corey Maggette added 19 points and eight rebounds, while Quentin Richardson had 17 points in the setback.
Chris Mihm’s jumper with around four minutes left in the first half extended Cleveland’s lead to 50-28 and the advantage later reached 28 points on James’ basket. The cushion was 22, 58-36, at the half.
Los Angeles came storming back in the third quarter. Maggette’s three-pointer with just under five minutes left trimmed the deficit to 66-58 and capped a 22-8 spurt. Cleveland maintained a 78-69 edge heading into the final frame.
The Clippers cut the gap to six points early in the fourth at 78-72, but Cleveland later widened the gap to 10 points. The Cavaliers again got within six on a Chris Wilcox free throw with 1:52 remaining, but Mihm answered with a jumper and Los Angeles never threatened again.
The Clippers play at Indiana tonight.
