Originally selected in the first round (19th overall) of the 1988 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, the 15th year veteran has appeared in 1,017 career games with New York, San Antonio, Portland, Washington, Miami and Minnesota.
For his career, Strickland has averaged 13.8 points, 7.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, the club waived guard Derrick Dial.
