Magic, Wizards get ready for playoffs in Washington 04.17.2007

Orlando has won two in a row and four of its last five games, including Sunday’s 88-86 triumph over the Boston Celtics at Amway Arena. Hedo Turkoglu scored 20 points and blocked shots on Boston’s final two possessions, including Delonte West’s layup attempt at the buzzer, as the playoff-bound Magic held on for the close win.
Jameer Nelson and Grant Hill both scored 16 points for the Magic, who are 1 1/2 games behind New Jersey for the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Magic will hit the road where they are 14-26 this season. They will close out the regular-season schedule on Wednesday versus the Miami Heat at home.
Washington is also headed to the playoffs and sits sixth overall in the conference, just a half game ahead of the Nets.
In Sunday’s 101-68 loss to the Chicago Bulls, DeShawn Stevenson finished with 13 points for the reeling Wizards, who have dropped seven of eight games. Jarvis Hayes and Etan Thomas both had 11 points in the loss.
The Wizards are 26-14 at home this season and will wrap up the regular-season schedule on Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Tuesday’s showdown between Orlando and Washington is the fourth and final meeting of the regular season. The Wizards are 2-1 in the series and have won three of the last four encounters.
Orlando has lost three straight and four of its last five trips to D.C.
