Mavs sign Willis

Dallas, TX (Basketball News) - The Dallas Mavericks signed free agent center Kevin Willis to a 10-day contract onMonday.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

A 20-year veteran, Willis has not played in an NBA games since the end of the 2004-05 season when he was with the Atlanta Hawks. The seven-footer becomes the oldest Maverick in franchise history and the second oldest player in NBA history.

Originally drafted out of Michigan State by the Atlanta Hawks in 1984, the 44- year-old Willis leads all active players in games played (1,419 regular season games). He holds career averages of 12.2 points on 48.7 percent shooting and 8.4 rebounds in 27.0 minutes per game.

Willis was in Phoenix Monday for his first practice as a Maverick and will accompany the team to Sacramento for Dallas’ matchup with the Kings on Tuesday.
