The power forward was acquired by the Knicks from Denver in a draft-day trade in June of 2002. However, he missed all of last season with a left knee injury he sustained in the preseason and has been sidelined ever since. The original injury to McDyess’ knee was suffered during training camp with the Nuggets in 2001. He was sidelined all but 10 games of the 2001-02 season.
"I am ready and anxious to go," McDyess said after Sunday’s practice.
McDyess, who has had three left knee surgeries in the last 19 months, is expected to see about six minutes of action per half.
Meanwhile, the team placed rookie Michael Sweetney on the injured list to make room for McDyess.
