McGrady, Rockets head to Charlotte

12.8.2006

(Basketball News) - The Bobcats will resume their homestand this evening when they welcome the Houston Rockets to Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

Charlotte has dropped five of its last seven games and is 1-1 on a four-game homestand. On Wednesday, the Bobcats suffered a 96-76 loss to the San Antonio Spurs despite Sean May’s 18 points and seven rebounds.

Gerald Wallace had 15 points and seven rebounds while Raymond Felton contributed 13 points, nine assists and seven boards for Charlotte, which is 3-6 as the host this season. The Bobcats will also welcome Phoenix to town on Sunday.

May is averaging 17.0 points and 8.4 rebounds in his last five games for the Bobcats, who are tied with Memphis for the worst record in the league.

Meanwhile, the Rockets had a two-game winning streak stopped with Wednesday’s 90-84 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Houston opened its three-game road trip on a losing note.

Rafer Alston and Luther Head each had 16 points for the Rockets, who lost for just the second time in eight games. Yao Ming had 14 points and eight rebounds while teammate Tracy McGrady totaled 14 points, 10 boards and seven assists in a losing effort.

Houston will also visit Washington on its trip and is 4-5 away from the Toyota Center this season.

Both teams split a pair of meetings last season, while the Bobcats lead the lifetime series by a 3-1 margin. Houston has dropped both trips to Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
