=== Memphis Grizzlies Team Report - February 26 ===

(Basketball News) - The Memphis Grizzlies lost to the Golden State Warriors, 99-92, on Wednesday at The Pyramid.

James Posey netted a team-high 25 points and hauled down 10 rebounds for Memphis, which had its five-game winning streak snapped and lost for only the second time in its last 11 games. Bonzi Wells and Lorenzen Wright each added 14 points in the setback. Pau Gasol finished with 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting.

Memphis finished the game without head coach Hubie Brown, who was tossed with 6:14 left in the fourth quarter after receiving his second technical. Brown was visibly upset with a non-call when it appeared that Pau Gasol was fouled driving to the basket.

The Grizzlies also played most of the contest without point guard Jason Williams, who left the game in the first quarter due to illness and did not return.

It was tight throughout the third quarter as neither team lead by more than five points. After 36 minutes of play Golden State held a slim 71-69 lead. The Warriors looked to get some breathing room midway through the fourth. Cliff Robinson’s layup stretched the Golden State advantage to seven points, 85-78 with 5:40 left in the contest.

Speedy Claxton’s three-point play increased Golden State’s margin to 92-84 with 2:17 remaining. Memphis would get no closer than five points the rest of the way, as the Warriors knocked down free throws down the stretch.

Golden State was sizzling from the charity stripe as the Warriors drained 35- of-40 for the game. Claxton was exceptional from the line, finishing 16-of-18.

Posey has scored 20 or more points in three straight games. He is averaging 24 points and eight rebounds in that span.

The Grizzlies are off until Friday when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks. Earlier this season, Memphis beat the Bucks, 105-85, on February 6 at The Pyramid.
