(Basketball News) - The Memphis Grizzlies lost their third straight contest Saturday to the Utah Jazz, 96-89, at the Delta Center.
James Posey led the Grizzlies with 17 points in the loss. All five Memphis starters scored in double figures.
Memphis led by five with just over three minutes left in the third quarter when Bo Outlaw’s layup made it 70-65. The Jazz, though, closed out the third period with a 9-0 run to take control of the contest. Andrei Kirilenko connected on a pair of free throws to start the spurt and Raja Bell nailed a three-pointer to give the Jazz a 74-70 lead after 36 minutes of action.
Utah never relinquished the lead from there. Memphis pulled within two on a Wesley Person jumper to start the final stanza, but could not get any closer.
The Jazz scored the next four points on a Bell basket and two free throws by Jarron Collins to claim a 78-72 advantage.
Memphis was outscored 48-38 in the second half.
The Grizzlies activated Outlaw from the injured list prior to the contest.
The Grizzlies are off until Monday when they host the Los Angeles Lakers.
