(Basketball News) - The Heat continued their hot streak with a 117-107 victory over the Orlando Magic at American Airlines Arena on Sunday night.
Shaquille O’Neal poured in a team-high 27 points, Eddie Jones added 25 and Miami won its eighth straight. Dwyane Wade added 22 points, including 10-of-11 from the line for the Heat, who shot 8-of-17 from beyond the arc.
Udonis Haslem, Keyon Dooling and Christian Laettner each posted 10 points in the win.
Jones ended 3-of-5 from three-point land for the Heat, who finished 43-of-83 from the floor.
In a tightly contested fourth quarter, Orlando took a short lived lead, 103-102, on Tony Battie’s jumper at the 5:16 mark.
However, the Heat regained the lead for good as Jones’ three-pointer sparked a 13-0 burst to put the game away. Dooling’s trey from the top of the key capped the spurt, pushing the Heat advantage to 115-103 with 1:33 left, effectively putting away the game.
The Magic never recovered en route to the 10-point loss.
Miami improved to 10-3 at home this season. The Heat have won eight of 12 and nine of the last 14 meetings in this series.
The franchise record for most wins in a row by the Heat is 11 straight. That occurred from January 27th to February 20th, 1997.
Miami has a day off before hosting the Boston Celtics on Tuesday evening.
