Kid: Who would win in a game of one-on-one between you and Kobe?
Michael Jordan: Kobe would win because I’m older. In my prime? Not even a contest. Let’s just say I have a better chance of stopping him than him stopping me.
Oh my. Mike may have stepped away from the game of basketball a minute ago, but evidently he’s still on form when it comes to talking trash. On being being asked the "You or Kobe?" question for the umpteenth time, he tells a crowd of camp attendees what he really feels, and in doing so reignites a debate that had all but died.
So, what do you all think? Would M.J. in his prime make light work of Kobe Bryant in a game of one-on-one? Let us know in the comment box below.

Let me help:I understand completely that it is a one on one, although I see many here do not.Making no mention of the teams. Making no mention of the rings.Making no mention of any intangibles.Jordan in his prime was faster, stronger, had better endurance, more air time, higher vertical, better ability to take damage, quicker reflexes, better court eyes, faster pivot, and quicker court recovery motions.I’m not some biased nut job who has MJ posters on my bedroom walls. (Or ’Kobe is the Devil’ paintings in the bathroom or whatever nuts do) I’m a true fan of bball and I’m telling you straight up: MJ in HIS PRIME would dominate ANY version of Kobe that has been in the NBA. Who knows what Kobe will be like in 5 more years? Maybe he’ll get even better? But the cold hard facts are that MJ Prime takes Kobe (current Prime) ten times out of ten.Real basketball fans who know enough or else have seen them both play in their primes (meaning were alive and aware of the NBA in the 1980s and early 1990s) will support me on this about 100:1. .

Man what u guys dont understand is that this is a one on one game not a battle of statistics and and awards...Kobe wins a one on one...jordan in his prime was great but he was a team player...Kobe is a one one one player but now he is becomin what Jordan was...Kobe would win one on one because kobe is perfectng the moves jordan couldnt do...his shot selection and difficulty are better than jordans shot variety...kobe utilizes jordans moves and perfects them so he can become a better player...by sayin that Kobe would win definetly.. .

thugs is a great observer...comparing mj23 with bulls against kb24 with the lakers, he made a single irrelevant comparison, shaq against longley...centers don’t make a team...thugs is not good enough to make mention that the bulls had scot pipe and role players like paxon, cartwright, grant etc...next time thugs, be good enough to make relevant basketball opinions by not singling out players because basketball is a team game...in retrospect, could mj23 be as good as he was if paired with shaq? .

probably mj will win... mj led his team into 6 championships... he doesnt have that strong line up on his team but he still managed it.. how sweet is that..??? and for kobe, he has a pretty good team but he cant still get even 1 ring without shaq.. if u will compare it.. whos better??? shaq or longley??? ofcors shaq!!! right??? imagine if kobe has a team mate like center luc do u think he can have a ring?? i don think so men.. he had gasol but they still lose to celts.. think of it guys.. this is not a question.. we all know how good mj is!!! mj will eat u alive kobe.. iterms of rebounding, stealing, points, blks, esp defense!! mj is such a good leader but kobe he was doing the ball hug every single game.. i vote mj for this .

these people posting on MJ’s shot variety/footwork being not as "creative" as Kobe’s are probably too young to have seen MJ in his prime... people are IDIOTS!and don’t get me wrong, I love Kobe, the guy will go down as one of the greatest... but unless he can the Rings by himself and carry a whole team by himself and not FLOP during a crunchtime finals game... he will never surpa-------MJ. There will never be a Kobe brand seperate from Nike. .

Let me get in this...in a one on one contest between MJ and Kobe the winner would be Kobe Bryant. Why? Kobe has a better shot variety than jordan. Kobe is a lot more creative too with his footwork and athleticism. and kobe is stronger than Mj in his prme... kb locked up LBJ who is 6’9 250 lbs..Mj never matched up against solid forwards. Kobe can play D too. Look at he how he stopped t-mac that one game he scored 24 points ina quarter to win the game from a big deficit. Jordan has never done that. he hasnt scored 81 points either and kobe will surpa-------jordan in the most 50 point games and he will take number one on the all time scorin list...Jordan witout a doubt is the best to ever play...hes the complete all around package in a 5 on 5 but one on one Kobe wins. jordan is the man when it comes to team play...thats what seperates jordan from KB but kobe is beginning to get that same mentality so look out and jordan wasnt in his prime til his 30’s kobe is about to be 30 and he’s in his prime already and will be for 3 or 4 more seasons...they’re both great players and this comapring crap needs to stop. MJ and KB the best ever! .

Why is this even asked? Anyone who has seen BOTH play in their prime knows Jordan would dominate. Yes, Jordan supporters who stopped watching after he left have no clue how Kobe can play. And young Kobe supporters who were peeing in their diapers when Jordan came on the scene have no clue how Jordan can play. I’ve seen them both (many times live and up close) and I have no doubt that one on one Jordan would take Kobe ten times out of ten. Jordan in his prime was just that good. .

both are as competitive as each other... but mike way too strong and would over-power kobe. not to mention mj has them "tactics" *cough* bryon russell *cough*.and kobe moulded his game similar to mike’s so mike would obviously know every single move kobe was trying to pull on him. .

I believe MJ will dominate KB if MJ was in his prime, although that outcome cannot be determined, it’s definitely something worth watching .
