Kid: Who would win in a game of one-on-one between you and Kobe?
Michael Jordan: Kobe would win because I’m older. In my prime? Not even a contest. Let’s just say I have a better chance of stopping him than him stopping me.
Oh my. Mike may have stepped away from the game of basketball a minute ago, but evidently he’s still on form when it comes to talking trash. On being being asked the "You or Kobe?" question for the umpteenth time, he tells a crowd of camp attendees what he really feels, and in doing so reignites a debate that had all but died.
So, what do you all think? Would M.J. in his prime make light work of Kobe Bryant in a game of one-on-one? Let us know in the comment box below.

Why is this even asked? Anyone who has seen BOTH play in their prime knows Jordan would dominate. Yes, Jordan supporters who stopped watching after he left have no clue how Kobe can play. And young Kobe supporters who were peeing in their diapers when Jordan came on the scene have no clue how Jordan can play. I’ve seen them both (many times live and up close) and I have no doubt that one on one Jordan would take Kobe ten times out of ten. Jordan in his prime was just that good. .

jordan was an ultimate defender scorer,teammate , leader. kobe is a self centered doucebag. if he was so great he should have carried the lakers past the celtics or maybe played a little D on paul pierce or ray allen. .

man some people are stupid.... its tru... when defending mj the kobe lovers will always try and ignore all the facts and just have an opinion without explaining why... yes people say jordan is better because he has 6 championships... but did u ever think maybe he has those because he is a better player.. morons.. kobe is my favourite player now.. but please.. you cant ignore the facts.. and anyone that says kobe is stronger and more skilled than jordan obviously doesnt know much at all and prob never watched jordans career... watching some videos and highlights aint enough. funn y how when you bring the jordan stats kobe worshipers try and take it out of the argument.. but they will mention kobe scoring 81 and alot of his stats. ignorant .. living in the moment fools. and dont come back with some stupid opinion with no evidence to back it answer. kobe lovers are great at that.... well except me ofcourse... as i do love kobe also... but even kobe will admit jordan is the greatest... and not just to be modest. .

both are as competitive as each other... but mike way too strong and would over-power kobe. not to mention mj has them "tactics" *cough* bryon russell *cough*.and kobe moulded his game similar to mike’s so mike would obviously know every single move kobe was trying to pull on him. .

I believe MJ will dominate KB if MJ was in his prime, although that outcome cannot be determined, it’s definitely something worth watching .

imperfectimage, thank you. thank you for clearin up the air to all laker fans that kobe is NOT God. yet again, i guarantee another laker fan will try to argue with your explanation which would be stupid.... known fact people... kobe in 07-08 went through denver(worst defense ever) and utah(23.5 fouls per game in season shall i say more?). they went passed the spurs(fisher foul?) and people magically expected an offensive team to beat a defensive team, something that hasnt happened in ages. kobe got EMBARRASED in the finals and yet people think that kobe in his prime can beat jordan in his prime? lol jordan took over games regardless of the defense the other team played in his prime. jordan took the league by storm when they had handchecking, elbowing, hardly any flagarant fouls... kobe is a great player whom definitely is in his prime. go look up MJ at age 30 and watch some tape. if u still think he can beat kobe at age 30, you shouldnt even watch basketball. .

rings or no rings, we’re talking about individual talent, not career stats. altho kobe is more of an individual player, wen u compare jordans and kobes mindset towards each game, u can c that jordan uses more philosophy rather than just his pure talent. To me i believe jordan is still the greatest, however lebron isnt too far behind... .

Kobe Will win if we put a 28 yr old kobe up against a 28 yr old MJ kobe will torch him the only reason they say MJ is better than mamba is because he has 6 rings if we put the rings aside kobe is a much better player .

rfbf5, you must be talking about when a 28 year old Kobe "torched" a 40 year old Jordan....pfft, yeah....that really proves that Kobe is better than Jordan was in his prime. It’s absolutely frusterating trying to argue with you "Kobe is the bestest" people. We throw stats and you respond that stats don’t matter. But you conveniently use the fact that Kobe played against a 40 year old Jordan and scored 555555 points. We throw leadership at you and you say "it is Kobe’s team that is bad." It’s not like this Godly team fell into Jordan’s lap and everything was daisy. Come to think of it, it WAS LIKE THAT FOR KOBE, wasn’t it? I mean, Jordan struggled for the majority of his early career, faced adversity and triumphed. Kobe was thrown into a team with arguably the best center ever. And I LOVE how some of you are now arguing Shaq was not even that great. And then you talk about how the players today are Godly compared to the players of yesteryear. Are you insane? Let’s just say that players today have improved, but is it so much that they can kill a player from the past by looking at them? I mean, you people argue like players today can actually fly around and levitate and move at the speed of sound. Lesson: Evolution doesn’t occur that rapidly. It has only been 10 years since Jordan played people. The players today did not grow a third limb or possess telekinesis. They are not at a point where they can run circles around players of the past. And also, have you noticed the LACK of FUNDAMENTALS in today’s game? Have you noticed the LACK of PHYSICAL PLAYS? Notice how players today are offense oriented? For God sakes, we have people that are called defense specialists today! When Jordan first started playing and into his prime, defense WAS THE GAME. You never heard the term "defense specialist" since it wasn’t anything new. It was probably more normal to hear phrases like "offensive phenom" back then. It is like defensive players are so scarce nowadays that they actually have their own title. And speaking of defense, notice how few teams are around that actually play a TEAM DEFENSE? It’s so baffling that people are calling this year’s Celtics as one of the best defensive teams ever. It’s like people have seen team defense for the first time or something. Jordan had to go through this type of team THROUGHOUT HIS WHOLE CAREER. The Pistons, the Celtics in the 80’s, the Knicks. They ALL played team defense. Not only that, but they BATTERED JORDAN everytime he even thought about jumping up. If Kobe couldn’t even survive this years Celtics defense in an era that is so plagued with fouls in favor of the offensive player, how would he go up against teams that actually elbowed him in the back of the haed or clotheslined him down to the ground (watch Jordan against pistons, knicks, celtics, etc). It was so physical that the league actually made flagrant fouls because of the Bad Boy Pistons. You people have this bizarre obsessions with trying to prove a point at the expense of your own logic. Arguing with you is like poking holes through water. .

Mj is like an old fighter past his prime. The last meeting between him and Kobe is when Kobe dropped 42 in one half on him and 55 for the game. Oh yeah......did I mention that MJ wanted no part of checking him.Kobe dropped about 30 on MJ coming off the bench when he was 18 or 19 years old. Kobe was a much more skilled player at 28 than MJ was at 28...........NO Contest .

probably mj will win... mj led his team into 6 championships... he doesnt have that strong line up on his team but he still managed it.. how sweet is that..??? and for kobe, he has a pretty good team but he cant still get even 1 ring without shaq.. if u will compare it.. whos better??? shaq or longley??? ofcors shaq!!! right??? imagine if kobe has a team mate like center luc do u think he can have a ring?? i don think so men.. he had gasol but they still lose to celts.. think of it guys.. this is not a question.. we all know how good mj is!!! mj will eat u alive kobe.. iterms of rebounding, stealing, points, blks, esp defense!! mj is such a good leader. he wants his teammate to be invloved but kobe, he was doing the ball hug every single game.. kobe should see the difference between mj and him,, pa-------the ball men... u are a team..you are doin a 1 man show.. you cant win without your team mate..i vote mj for this!!! .
