Minnesota Timberwolves Team Report - January 20 01.20.2004

(Basketball News) - Kevin Garnett finished with 27 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 97-90 victory over the New Orleans Hornets at the Target Center.
Sam Cassell added 22 points for the Timberwolves, who have now won six of seven games. Latrell Sprewell chipped in with 15 points for Minnesota, winners of nine straight games on its homecourt.
The Timberwolves used a 9-0 in the last three minutes to take home the win. After Armstrong hit a three to make it 90-87 for the Hornets, Cassell made three straight jumpers to put Minnesota up for good at 93-90.
Just before Cassell’s last bucket, P.J. Brown was whistled for a double- dribble on the other end to the dismay of New Orleans coach Tim Floyd.
Garnett was then fouled in the key on his jumper that made it 95-90 with 18 seconds left. Floyd was incensed that Garnett wasn’t called for a travel on the play and launched a tirade that had him ejected, drawing a technical foul.
Cassell converted the technical free throw and Minnesota hit another in the closing seconds to put the exclamation point on the win.
Minnesota shot 51.3 percent from the floor, but was just 1-of-9 from three- point land.
The Timberwolves return to action on Wednesday against Toronto.
