(Basketball News) - Latrell Sprewell hit a three-pointer to tie the game late in regulation and a tough jumper to put the Timberwolves ahead for good in overtime, as Minnesota defeated Chicago, 92-89, on Thursday at the United Center.
Sprewell finished with 27 points and eight rebounds as the Timberwolves beat Chicago for the ninth straight time. Kevin Garnett added 19 points and 17 rebounds for Minnesota, which has won three of four.
With the game tied at 86-86 in overtime, Sprewell hit a turnaround jumper from just inside the three-point line as the shot clock expired, putting the Timberwolves ahead for good with 57 seconds to play.
After the two teams traded turnovers, Chicago’s Scottie Pippen misfired on a corner three. Sam Cassell was then fouled and hit both of his free throws. Cassell later hit two more free throws to help secure the victory.
Cassell finished with 17 points and five assists.
The Timberwolves are host the Utah Jazz tonight.
