(Basketball News) - Kevin Garnett posted 21 points, 18 boards and seven assists to lead Minnesota to a 102-98 win over Memphis on Friday at The Pyramid.
Sam Cassell had a game-high 25 points, while Latrell Sprewell contributed 24 points for the Timberwolves, who snapped a two-game skid.
Garnett’s turnaround jumper with 6:38 remaining gave Minnesota an 83-78 lead, but the Grizzlies scored five of the next seven points to climb within 85-83.
Memphis would not get any closer as the Timberwolves reeled off seven straight, capped by a pair of free throws from Garnett, and made it 92-83 with 2:31 left in the fourth.
The Grizzlies never seriously threatened the rest of the game.
Minnesota shot 49 percent from the field (37-of-75) and blocked eight shots.
The Timberwolves visit Steve Nash and the Dallas Mavericks tonight.
