Lindsay Whalen poured in 20 points and was the only other player in double figures for the Sun, who have won four straight.
Seimone Augustus had 24 points and Svetlana Ambrosimova chipped in with 17 for Minnesota, which continued its downward spiral with its seventh straight loss.
Connecticut held a 45-39 lead after the first half, but watched it slip away as Minnesota pulled within a single possession to start the fourth quarter. The Lynx, however, were unable to take the lead.
A driving layup by Douglas sparked a 9-0 run by Connecticut with a little more than four minutes remaining, and the Sun held on as the final seconds ticked off the clock.
