Bosh, Parker pace Raptors past Hornets 11.28.2006
|
Bosh finished 6-of-13 shooting and pulled down 14 rebounds while Parker went 7-of-12 from the field.
Andrea Bargnani scored 16 points and Joey Graham added 14 for the Raptors, who recorded their first road win this season. Jose Calderon contributed 13 points and dished out four assists.
Toronto shot 45 percent from the floor.
Chris Paul led the Hornets with 16 points despite shooting 6-of-16 and had 11 helpers. Rasual Butler had 13 points, Desmond Mason scored 10 and Tyson Chandler grabbed 17 boards in the loss.
New Orleans, which has dropped four straight, shot a lowly 25 percent from three-point range.
Toronto, up 63-59 at the 3:19 mark in the third, ended the quarter with a 9-0 run for a 13-point advantage. Bosh led the charge with five points, three of which came from free throws, and Calderon contributed with a three-pointer.
That spurt by the Raptors changed the reflection of the game and took everything out of the Hornets, who were outscored 23-14 in the period and never mounted a threat in the fourth.
The Hornets held a moderate advantage throughout the first quarter, and led by as many as seven on Mason’s dunk with 1:18 remaining. Toronto then came within two, 25-23, when Radoslav Nesterovic drained a jumper and Graham hit a trey.
The Raptors opened the second with six straight points to take a four-point lead, but a pair of Marc Jackson free throws knotted the game, 33-33, for New Orleans with 7:57 left. Toronto, though, answered with nine of the game’s next 11 points for a 42-35 edge.
Mason’s finger roll late in the frame got the Hornets within two, but a driving layup by Calderon made it a 49-45 contest in favor of the Raptors at the break.
