The Wizards have won two in a row and seven of their last eight games overall. All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas scored 29 of his 35 points in the first half as Washington cruised past the Los Angeles Clippers, 116-105, on Friday at the Verizon Center.
Arenas also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out 12 assists in the win over the Clippers for the Wizards, who have won 13 of their last 16 games. Caron Butler scored 27 points for Washington, while Antawn Jamison netted 19 in the victory.
Washington, which returns home to host the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday at the Verizon Center, is just 6-10 on the road this season.
Arenas has scored 30 or more points in two straight and seven of his last eight outings.
Toronto plays the finale of a three-game homestand. Chris Bosh poured in 21 points and grabbed five rebounds as the Raptors knocked off the Atlanta Hawks, 105-94, on Friday at Air Canada Centre.
Bosh finished 8-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-11 from the foul line, while Joey Graham scored 19 points and pulled down eight boards in the victory over the Hawks. Morris Peterson ended with 16 points, rookie Andrea Bargnani scored 12 and Jose Calderon registered 12 points and a season-high 12 assists for the Raptors, who snapped a three-game losing skid.
The Raptors, who lost to Phoenix in the opener of the current homestand, are a solid 9-5 at home this season. After today’s game, they will embark on a three-game road trip. Toronto will visit New Jersey, Milwaukee and Boston on the upcoming swing.
