Atlanta Hawks Team Report - December 1 12.1.2004
|
(Basketball News) - The Atlanta Hawks early-season struggles continued on Tuesday, as they dropped a 110-109 overtime decision to the New York Knicks at Philips Arena.
Antoine Walker recorded a season-high 36 points and tallied 13 boards, but missed the first of two free throws with two seconds left that would have forced a second OT. He did, however, spark a 14-2 fourth quarter run that got Atlanta back into the game.
Tony Delk had a season-high 21 points for the Hawks, who failed to hold on to late leads in both the fourth quarter and overtime to lose for the seventh straight time.
With the Hawks ahead 108-105 in OT, Jamal Crawford hit his first clutch shot by draining a running jumper with 1:08 left. Later, with Atlanta still ahead by a point, Crawford hit the game-winner.
Mohammed opened the door for the Hawks to tie the contest, fouling Walker with two seconds left. However, Walker missed the first and, when trying to intentionally miss the second, swished the shot to close the door.
Atlanta returns to the court on Friday versus the Washington Wizards.
