Atlanta Hawks Team Report - November 27 11.27.2004
|
(Basketball News) - The Atlanta Hawks will try to halt a five-game losing streak this evening, as they travel to Charlotte for their first-ever battle against the expansion Bobcats.
The Hawks are currently in last place in the Southeast Division and actually trail Charlotte by one-half game in the standings.
Atlanta is coming off a setback in Friday’s contest against the Orlando Magic, who came in and posted a 117-99 victory at Philips Arena. Steve Francis tallied 29 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead Orlando.
Antoine Walker netted 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out nine assists for the Hawks, who have dropped five in a row for the first time since a seven-game skid from December 10-20 of last season. The problem hasn’t been Walker, who has scored 20 or more points in 10 of Atlanta’s 12 games this season.
The Hawks continued to struggle at home this season, as they have won just one of their six tilts at Philips Arena.
Atlanta played without center Predrag Drobjnak and guard Royal Ivey, both of whom were injured in Tuesday’s loss at New York. Ivey was placed on the injured list prior to Friday’s game, while Drobjnak is not likely to play in tonight’s tilt.
