Oxford, OH (Basketball News) - Danny Horace racked up 20 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Miami-Ohio RedHawks to an 83-75 overtime victory over the Ball State Cardinals in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams.
Chet Mason scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the win for Miami-Ohio (4-1). Nathan Peavy added 14 points and Monty St. Clair tallied 10 points for the RedHawks.
Peyton Stovall tallied 17 points in defeat for Ball State (2-2). Terrance Chapman added 16 points and Julien Mills netted 15 points in the loss.
Miami-Ohio was dominant down the stretch in the first half and owned a 35-24 lead at intermission.
The Cardinals gradually cut into their deficit in the second half and managed to tie the score at 67 at the end of regulation.
The RedHawks held a 76-75 edge with 1:23 remaining in the extra session, but Ball State stalled offensively when it mattered most.
Miami connected on 53.7 percent of its field goal attempts in the tilt and held Ball State to 39.4 percent.
