Memphis, TN (Basketball News) - Rodney Carney scored 19 points in leading the Memphis Tigers to a 72-66 victory over the East Carolina Pirates in Conference USA action.
Jeremy Hunt had 14 points in a reserve role for Memphis (13-9, 6-2 C-USA), while Darius Washington finished with 13 points and a game-high five assists.
Duane Erwin made just 10-of-17 free throw attempts, but he still recorded a double-double for the Tigers by posting 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Mike Cook paced the Pirates (7-14, 2-7) in defeat with 17 points and five rebounds. Corey Rouse tallied 12 points for ECU, while Moussa Badiane and Tom Hammonds both scored 11 points.
East Carolina made 47.8 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half and took a 33-28 advantage into the break.
