NCAA Game Summary - Hofstra at St. John’s

11.29.2005

Queens, NY (Basketball News) - Loren Stokes scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Hofstra Pride to a 64-51 victory over the St. John’s Red Storm in a non-conference contest from Carnesecca Arena.

Stokes also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Hofstra (2-1), while Antoine Agudio provided scoring support with 16 points. Carlos Rivera also chipped in twin-digits with 11 points.

St. Johns (3-1) was led in the loss by Lamont Hamilton, who posted 18 points and 11 rebounds. Cedric Jackson had a double-double for the Red Storm as well, contributing 11 points and 10 boards.

St. John’s shot 44.4 percent from the field in the first half, while also making 14-of-15 free throws, which was good enough for a 40-27 lead at the intermission.

The Red Storm went cold in the second half, however, shooting just 17.2 percent from the floor and 1-of-11 from three-point range in the stanza. Hofstra outscored St. John’s 37-11 in the frame, as the Pride roared back for the 13-point win.

Hofstra has now won three straight meetings with the Red Storm, and four of the last five. Before the Pride’s recent success in the series, St. John’s had won the first 19 tilts in the series.
