Las Vegas, NV (Basketball News) - Odartey Blankson netted a game-high 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in leading the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels to an 86-61 victory over the Oregon State Beavers in a non-conference matchup from the Thomas & Mack Center.
Blankson scored 17 of his points in the first half and finished the game 11- of-12 from the foul line. Romel Beck added 17 points for the Rebels (1-1), while Dustin Villepigue contributed 16 points and seven rebounds. Luis Amundson also got into the mix with a double-double that consisted of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Sasa Cuic paced the Beavers (2-2) in defeat with 12 points and eight rebounds. Lamar Hurd tallied 11 points and dished out five assists, while Marcel Jones chipped in 10 points in the losing cause.
The Rebels closed out the first half with a 17-7 run, taking a 37-25 lead into the break.
In the second half, UNLV used a late 12-4 spurt to secure the convincing 25- point victory.
The Rebels shot 45.5 percent from the floor in the contest, including a 20- of-23 effort from the foul line.
