Portland, OR (Basketball News) - Pooh Jeter scored 15 points to lead five Pilots in double figures, as Portland knocked off the Pepperdine Waves, 81-71, in West Coast Conference action.
Jeter also ripped off six steals for the Pilots (12-6, 1-2), who ended a two- game losing streak. Donald Wilson netted 14 points, while Ben Sullivan scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Darren Cooper and Marcus Lewis had 12 points apiece in the win.
Glen McGowan scored a game-high 24 points for the Waves (12-6, 2-1), who fell to 1-4 on the road. Alex Acker finished with 23 points for Pepperdine, converting all 13 of his free-throw attempts on the night.
The Pilots were 12-of-19 at the line in the first half, and took a 40-36 lead into the break.
Portland hit 17-of-29 from the field in the second half, and cruised to its first conference win of the season.
Pepperdine was completely dominated in the paint, as it was outscored 48-24. The loss snapped the Waves’ four-game winning streak.
