Ypsilanti, MI (Basketball News) - Michael Ross netted 17 points to lead the Eastern Michigan Eagles past the Toledo Rockets, 75-70, in a Mid-American Conference tilt from the Convocation Center.
Ross shot 5-of-9 from the field, grabbed three rebounds and dished out four assists for the Eagles (8-3, 2-0 MAC), who improved to a perfect 6-0 at home this season. James Jackson absolutely dominated the boards, ripping down 17 total rebounds, including 11 off the defensive glass. Jackson tallied 13 points for EMU to round out his double-double. John Bowler added 16 points and nine rebounds, while Darryl Garrett chipped in with 10 points.
Keith Triplett led all scorers with 22 points for Toledo (4-6, 0-1 MAC), while Sammy Villegas contributed 11 points in the losing effort.
Toledo shot just 37.1 percent from the field in the first half of action, but still managed to take a 37-33 advantage into the break.
EMU nailed 50.0 percent of its total shots in the second stanza and sank 14- of-19 attempts from the free throw line en route to the five-point victory.
The Eagles dominated the boards, 44-34, in addition to outscoring Toledo at the foul line, 22-10.
