San Diego, CA (Basketball News) - Lodrick Stewart scored a career-high 27 points to lead the USC Trojans to an 87-75 victory over the San Diego Toreros in non-league action.
Errick Craven pitched in 14 points in the win for USC (3-3). Gabe Pruitt added 12 points and eight assists for the Trojans, while Nick Curtis and Gregg Guenther finished with 11 points in the victory.
Brice Vounang racked up 26 points in defeat for San Diego (3-5). Brandon Gay netted 16 points for the Toreros, and Avi Fogel added 13 points in the loss.
Jim Saia, USC’s interim head coach, earned his first victory. Saia took over for the departed Henry Bibby, fired last week after nine seasons as leader of the program.
The Trojans held a 47-40 lead at intermission, and although San Diego managed to tie the score twice in the second half, USC never lost the lead over the final 20 minutes.
Guenther pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds in the victory.
