Little Rock, AR (Basketball News) - Darius Eason scored the game-winning layup as time expired to lift the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans over the UL-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns, 64-63, in a Sun Belt Conference battle at ALLTEL Arena.
Brandon Freeman tallied 25 points to lead the way for the Trojans (18-9, 10-4 SBC). Eason finished with 12 points while Richard Hardman chipped in 10 points as Arkansas-Little Rock won its second game in a row to clinch the Sun Belt Conference East Division title.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (17-10, 11-4) were led by Tiras Wade who registered 22 points. Brian Hamilton added 12 points as UL-Lafayette lost its second- straight game.
Arkansas-Little Rock held a 26-25 lead with 3:21 remaining in the first half and it closed out the stanza with a 9-5 run to take a 35-30 advantage over the Ragin’ Cajuns into the locker room.
UL-Lafayette shot 60.9 percent from the floor in the second half and the Ragin’ Cajuns outscored Arkansas-Little Rock 33-29 in the frame but it was not enough as Eason’s heroics secured the one-point victory for the Trojans.
The Trojans shot 42.3 percent from the field in the contest while UL-Lafayette shot 49 percent. Arkansas Little-Rock connected on 9-of-20 shots from beyond the arc in the game.
