NCAA Game Summary - Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Boise State

Boise, ID (Basketball News) - Aaron Haynes posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds in helping to lead the Boise State Broncos to a 73-70 win over the Panthers of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the first round of the NIT from BSU Pavilion.

Haynes knocked down all 10 of his free-throw attempts for Boise State (23-9) which will now face Marquette in the second round of the tournament on Tuesday night.

Jason Ellis added a double-double of his own with 13 points and 12 rebounds, along with a game-high three blocks in the victory. Despite turning the ball over six times, Bryan Defares contributed 12 points and four assists for the Broncos as well.

The Panthers (20-11) were paced by Dylan Page who dropped in a game-high 23 points, shooting 9-of-17 from the floor. Ed McCants chipped in 14 points and Adrian Tigert seven points to go along with his game-high 16 rebounds.

Both teams attempted 34 shots from the field in the first half, with Boise State converting half of its tries and making 5-of-11 from behind the three- point line, en route to a 44-32 lead at the break.

In the second half Boise State dipped to 34.6 percent from the field and just 1-of-6 from three-point range, allowing Milwaukee to make it a game down the stretch. But BSU converted 10-of-12 at the free-throw line to secure the three-point win at home.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee was held to just 38.6 percent shooting from the floor on the night, which included 7-of-25 beyond the arc.
