New York, NY (Basketball News) - DeSagana Diop tipped in the winning points at the buzzer, as Dallas defeated New York, 104-102, in the home preseason debut of Knicks head coach Larry Brown.
Brown, coaching for the home team for the first time at Madison Square Garden, had seven of his players in double figure scoring. However, the Knicks couldn’t overcome 20 points from Dirk Nowitzki and 16 from Josh Howard.
Jason Terry added 13 points for Dallas, while David Lee had 17 to top New York. Rookie Nate Robinson added 13 points, including a pair of free throws with 7.1 seconds left that tied the game for the Knicks.
New York made 38-of-47 free throws, but shot just 42.5 percent compared to 52.6 percent for Dallas.
