Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - Jerome James had a season-high 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting, to lead the Seattle SuperSonics past the Detroit Pistons, 95-87.
James added seven rebounds and three blocked shots while Rashard Lewis led all scorers with 18 points for Seattle, which has won three in a row.
"We are very confident coming into every game," said Seattle guard Antonio Daniels. "We’re playing very well now. There’s not a team we feel we can’t compete against; better still, beat. (The Pistons) are a very good team from top to bottom, but we came to play."
Richard Hamilton had 15 points for the Pistons, who coughed up a fourth- quarter lead for the second straight night. The Pistons fell to 3-2 on their current six-game road trip.
Ronald Dupree hit a shot with 10 1/2 minutes left in regulation to put the Pistons ahead 73-71. But the Sonics ran off 11 straight points to grab an 82-73 cushion with 4 1/2 minutes remaining. Detroit missed nine straight shots during the dry spell.
Hamilton momentarily stopped the bleeding for the Pistons as he drove the lane and converted a three-point play to pull Detroit within 82-76.
But Ray Allen hit a free throw, and James added a running shot, and blocked a shot on the other end of the court that led to a Lewis jumper. Lewis’ basket gave the Sonics their largest lead of the evening, at 87-76.

The Sonics used an 11-4 run to grab an 18-11 lead with four minutes left in the first quarter. Seattle would lead 20-13 with 3 1/2 minutes left, before Detroit ended the frame on a 10-2 run to take a 23-22 advantage into the second quarter.
It was a see-saw affair in the second quarter. James gave Seattle a 39-38 lead with just less than three minutes left in the first half, but Detroit ended the first half with a 7-3 run to carry a 45-42 lead into the intermission.
Allen had 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists, but made just 3-of-17 attempts from the field.
