NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Portland

Portland, OR (Basketball News) - Shareef Abdur-Rahim finished with 26 points and nine rebounds to lead Portland to a 97-88 win over Golden State at the Rose Garden.

Damon Stoudamire — who hit 4-of-4 three-pointers — scored 19 points for the Trail Blazers, who snapped their two-game losing streak. Ruben Patterson contributed 19 points and nine boards.

Troy Murphy delivered 19 points and 17 rebounds for the Warriors, who had their four-game winning streak snapped. Mike Dunleavy posted 12 points and 11 boards.

Clifford Robinson also scored 12 points for Golden State, which played without injured guard Jason Richardson.

Sebastian Telfair notched career highs with 14 points and five rebounds for Portland, which overcome a 14-point, second-half deficit. Consecutive three- pointers by Stoudamire, 1:24 into the fourth quarter, capped a 14-2 spurt and forced a 71-71 tie.

Golden State then scored the next five points. Fisher hit a three-pointer, and Robinson added a basket to put it ahead 76-71 with 9:03 to go.

Portland then scored seven straight points. Telfair’s driving layup, with 7:03 to go, put it ahead 78-76.

After the Golden State forced a 78-78 tie, the Trail Blazers notched the next four points. Bo Outlaw’s dunk, with 5:05 left, put them ahead 82-78.

Down the stretch, the Warriors got within two points, but no closer. Portland scored seven straight points to go ahead 89-82 with 1:26 to go.

"Telfair really hurt us," said Golden State head coach Mike Montgomery. "[The Trail Blazers] went small and really started attacking us."

Up 13-10 midway through the first quarter, Golden State ended the first on a 18-8 run. Murphy’s three-pointer late in the quarter put it ahead 31-18.

A three-point play by Stoudamire, less than three minutes into the second quarter, brought the Trail Blazers within 35-27. They cut their deficit to 39-35 on two free throws by Telfair with 3:43 left in the second.

The Warriors led 48-39 on a three-point shot by Derek Fisher with 32 seconds remaining in the quarter, and took a 48-41 advantage into halftime.

Midway through the third quarter, Golden State went ahead 65-51 on a three- pointer by Robinson. It led 69-57 on a two foul shots by Dunleavy with less than three minutes to play in the third.

Six straight points by Portland, capped by a dunk by Patterson, brought the team within 69-63 with a minute to go in the third. It trailed 71-65 at the end of the quarter.

Richardson missed the game with a sprained left ankle...Portland’s Zach Randolph (sore knee) and Theo Ratliff (sore left shoulder) did not play...Darius Miles recorded eight boards for the Trail Blazers, who improved to 8-5 at home this season...Speedy Claxton registered 11 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds for the Warriors, who have lost 13 of their last 14 in Portland.
