NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Portland

11.19.2005

Portland, OR (Basketball News) - Jason Richardson scored 28 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Portland Trail Blazers, 91-80, at the Rose Garden.

Baron Davis added 16 points and 11 assists for the Warriors, who have won two of their last three games. Troy Murphy chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Mike Dunleavy had 11 points for Golden State, which shot 40.9 percent from behind the arc in the win.

The Warriors have won their last three games against Portland.

Sebastian Telfair paced Portland with 20 points and Darius Miles added 15 and eight rebounds for the Trail Blazers, who never led in the game. Zach Randolph recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds for Portland, which has lost two of three.

Golden State jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led 11-2 after Richardson’s three- pointer. Sergei Monia’s three-point basket made it 19-13 with 5:36 remaining in the opening frame before the Warriors scored eight straight, five from Richardson, for a 27-13 edge. Golden State later carried a 34-22 lead into the second.

Andris Biedrins’ early basket gave the Warriors a 14-point lead and Davis’ three-point basket put Golden State up 41-24, 2:12 into the frame. A 7-0 Trail Blazer run midway through the quarter made it a 43-34 game and the two teams traded scores the rest of the way, giving Golden State a 49-38 lead at the half.

The Warriors scored the first five points of the third to extend to a 54-38 lead before Portland countered with six in a row for a 54-44 game. Telfair’s trey with 3:09 left in the frame pulled Portland to within 59-52, but Golden State still held a 63-55 lead heading into the fourth.

The Trail Blazers would never close the gap in the final stanza as Dunleavy’s jumper 3:15 into the fourth put Golden State up 70-58. A Derek Fisher three- point bucket and a Richardson layup, sandwiched around a Miles basket, put the Warriors up 15 at 79-64 with 5:29 remaining before Miles later cut it to 83-73 with a free throw.

It was too much for Portland to overcome though, as Golden State cruised to the victory.

Fisher finished with seven points...Monia added eight points in the loss...Ruben Patterson scored six points for Portland, all of them coming on free throws...Theo Ratliff pulled down nine rebounds off the bench for the Trail Blazers...Adonal Foyle had 11 rebounds, five offensive, for Golden State...Portland still leads the all-time series, 108-71.
