NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at Minnesota

Minneapolis, MN (Basketball News) - Corey Maggette scored 30 points and added 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 93-84, at Target Center.
Elton Brand had 19 points and 13 rebounds and Sam Cassell and Cuttino Mobley each chipped in with 13 points to pace the Clippers, who stopped a two-game slide.
Kevin Garnett had 29 points and 13 rebounds and Marko Jaric added 17 points and six assists for the Timberwolves, who had a two-game winning streak stopped.
Los Angeles had a 72-60 lead going into the fourth quarter, however Minnesota would claw its way back into the game in the last stanza.
Maggette drained a jumper to give the Clippers a 16-point lead, 76-62, with under 11 minutes remaining. However, the Timberwolves went on a 14-2 tear to make it a 78-76 game after Garnett’s jumper with under six minutes to play.
But, Cassell nailed a three-pointer with 2:45 to play to start a 9-2 run and the Clippers escaped the late Timberwolves comeback to gain the victory.
Los Angeles had jumped out to an early lead, but Minnesota went on a 10-2 run with Jaric scoring five points during the spurt.
However, the Clippers chipped away and on the strength of an 8-3 run to end the quarter took a slim 22-21 lead into the second.
The teams kept it close in the next quarter, but Brand netted five points in the final two-plus minutes to help give Los Angeles a 47-44 lead going into the locker room.
Garnett led all scorers at the half with 13 points while Maggette led the Clippers with 10 points.
The third quarter started out much like the second, with both teams making several baskets to keep the game close.
Garnett drained a jumper to bring Minnesota within 59-57 with under seven minutes left, but the Clippers would finish out the quarter on a 13-3 run to take a 12-point lead into the last 12 minutes.
