NBA Game Summary - Memphis at New Jersey

East Rutherford, NJ (Basketball News) - Richard Jefferson scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds as New Jersey beat Memphis, 86-74, at Continental Airlines Arena.

Vince Carter scored 23 points, while Nenad Krstic scored 14 points for the Nets, who won their 10th straight game. Jason Kidd added 12 assists.

New Jersey, which won 10 straight games this season from December 16 - January 8, has posted six straight wins at home. The Nets are a solid 25-9 at home this season.

The Nets currently hold a 10-game lead over Philadelphia for first place in the Atlantic Division and occupies the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

Pau Gasol scored 21 points for the Grizzlies, who lost their second straight game. Bobby Jackson added 18 points.

Memphis is currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference playoff race, and is 2-3 in its last five road games. The Grizzlies are 16-20 as the guest this season.

Memphis outscored New Jersey by seven points in the second half, however, New Jersey built up a 19-point lead in the first half to hold out for the victory.

The Nets went on a 13-2 run sparked by a Jefferson layup with 9:23 left in the opening stanza and gained an early 18-6 lead. New Jersey led 27-18 heading into the second quarter.

New Jersey closed the second quarter on a 14-5 run ignited by a Jefferson trey with 3:32 left, and led 50-31 at halftime.

Memphis cut its deficit by four in the third quarter, but trailed 67-52 heading into the fourth.

The Grizzlies won the first meeting with New Jersey this season by an 81-69 score on January 13...Memphis had a five-game winning streak against New Jersey snapped, but has won six of the last eight meetings with New Jersey. It also had a two-game winning streak snapped in New Jersey.
