NBA Game Summary - Miami at Denver

12.4.2005

Denver, CO (Basketball News) - Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points and Earl Boykins hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 17 seconds remaining, as the Denver Nuggets edged the Miami Heat, 101-99, at the Pepsi Center.

Andre Miller added 22 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Nuggets, who snapped a three-game skid and beat Miami for the fifth time in the last seven meetings.

Boykins ended with 12 points and seven assists, and Kenyon Martin had 11 points for Denver, which has won seven of its 10 home games this season.

Dwyane Wade tallied 32 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Heat, who had their three-game win streak broken. Antoine Walker had 20 points and seven rebounds for Miami, while Gary Payton added 17 points and Jason Williams scored 11.

Walker’s shot in the lane gave the Heat a 99-98 lead with 29.5 seconds remaining. It was Miami’s first lead since the opening minute of the second quarter.

Boykins then nailed his three-pointer from the left wing. James Posey’s attempt at a shot from the left corner was off the mark and time had seemingly expired. The Nuggets went to the locker room, but referees reviewed the tape and found that Walker committed a foul with one second left.

Camby then got the inbounds pass in successfully to end the game.

Denver was ahead 25-24 after one quarter before Walker’s jumper gave the Heat a brief lead 28 seconds into the second. Denver followed Walker’s basket with a 12-2 run and led 56-50 at the half.

The Nuggets widened that margin to 84-73 through three quarters and were in front by as many as 14 in the fourth on Boykins’ three-pointer to start the period.

However, Miami scored the next 13 points, drawing within 87-86 following a Posey three-pointer with 7:54 to play.

Miami has lost four straight at Denver...Wade was 14-of-19 at the foul line.
