11.5.2005

Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Bobby Simmons scored 23 points, including a rim-shattering slam over Alonzo Mourning to put a stamp on a fourth-quarter comeback, as the Milwaukee Bucks took advantage of the absent Shaquille O’Neal and defeated the Miami Heat, 105-100, in the home opener at the Bradley Center.

Sharpshooter Michael Redd also scored 23 points on 8-of-14 from the floor and T.J. Ford added 13 points while distributing 11 assists for the Bucks, who won their first two games on the road and are off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2001-02.

Maurice Williams scored 16 points and Jamaal Magloire chipped in 14 for Milwaukee, which shot 49 percent from the floor and made 78 percent of its free throws.

Dwyane Wade led six Miami players in double figures with 21 points, and he also dished out nine assists and grabbed seven boards.

Jason Williams added 18 points and Antoine Walker chipped in 15 points for the Heat, who have lost two straight and are without O’Neal for the next two to four weeks with an ankle injury.

Without O’Neal, the Bucks won the offensive battle in the paint, 50-40, and held their own on the glass, ending the night even on the boards, 36-36.
