NBA Game Summary - Milwaukee at Detroit

02.14.2005

Auburn Hills, MI (Basketball News) - Chauncey Billups and Rasheed Wallace scored 17 points apiece, and Detroit set a franchise record with just four turnovers in an easy 107-83 victory over Milwaukee.

Richard Hamilton added 16 points and Carlos Arroyo scored 15 off the bench for the Pistons, who have won three straight and eight of their last nine games. Tayshaun Prince chipped in 13 points and Ben Wallace collected 11 points and 12 rebounds in the win.

Erick Strickland scored 18 points to lead Milwaukee, which had a three-game win streak snapped. Dan Gadzuric added 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in the loss.

The Bucks have yet to win four straight this season. They also had a two-game winning streak against Detroit halted.

The Pistons had 32 assists to go along with their record-low number of turnovers, marking the third straight game they had more than 30 assists.

Arroyo led the way with six helpers, while Hamilton, Billups and Ben Wallace added five apiece.

"It’s great," Detroit head coach Larry Brown said. "We played about as well as we could play."

Billups scored 13 points in the first quarter to lead the Pistons to a 26-24 advantage heading into the second.

That was as close as the game would get, as Detroit ended the first half on a 19-5 run to go ahead 58-41 heading into the locker room. Rasheed Wallace had eight points during the burst.

"We’re playing great and everybody’s healthy," Billups said. "We’re just playing very unselfish."

The Pistons shot 53 percent in the first half to Milwaukee’s 41 percent. But perhaps the most telling statistics were Detroit’s advantage in fast break points (21-0) and its 7-of-10 performance on three-pointers (Milwaukee was 2- of-7).

Detroit ended the game shooting 53 percent compared to just 43 percent for Milwaukee.

The Bucks gave up an 11-2 run to start the third quarter, falling behind 26 points when Ben Wallace’s bucket made it 69-43. The Pistons led by 27 points heading into the fourth, and went ahead by as many as 30 points before the end of the game.

For the second straight game, Detroit’s Darko Milicic set a career-high in points. He established a new best by scoring seven against Washington on Saturday, and went 3-of-6 in this one for eight points...Milwaukee’s Michael Redd missed his second straight game with a sprained left index finger. He had played in 212 consecutive games before injuring the finger in Wednesday’s win over the Toronto Raptors.
